“I think you’ve already hung yourself” page 35
ReplyDeleteThis quote is important because it means that he’s done so many bad things that he’s practically killed himself already.
I agree with you. He's probably soulless and has no life.
DeleteSaying he is soulless is pretty harsh. What exactly do you mean?
Delete“I want to ask this circle to help me get over my anger.”
ReplyDeleteChapter 4 page 40
This quote stood out to me because I don’t know if Cole even wants to get over his anger and actually wants peter to forgive him.
i totally agree with you.
DeleteIt wasn't like he meant to hurt anyone
ReplyDelete-Cole W Page 40
This tells me that Cole doesn't want to be a bad guy.
I think people rarely do want to be bad, but sometimes they make really bad choices and need help learning how to deal with anger.
DeleteCole jest needs a good dad and mom without hurting him.
Deletewhen a person is being abused by there parents they think it is alright. but all Cole needs is a good family to be there for him :)
Chapter 4
ReplyDelete“Life is a circle.” Pg. 34
I picked this quote because it’s true. Life is a circle and it speaks to me.
Why does this quote speak to you Sarebear
DeleteChapter 4 Page 40
ReplyDelete“This is all going to end now”
This means Coles dad wants to end all of what happened and forgive what Cole did to everyone.
I agree it does seem like that's what Cole's dad wants to do.
DeleteI know right jessica
Delete"Justice often fails because it seeks to punish and not to heal."
ReplyDeleteThis quote speaks to me because people get punished thinking it would heal them but it doesn't actually heal them.
page. 38
Deletegreat thoughts
Delete'' im here to make sure my son never causes a problem again''
ReplyDeletepage 40
it sounds like his dad was not happy to be there and it explains cole alot
“This is all going to end now” Pg. 40
ReplyDeleteWilliam, Cole’s dad, said this to the Hearing Circle when he was introducing himself to the Hearing Circle. William said this as he wants Cole to change, but in fact I think that Williams just worried about his image, not as much about his son Cole.
“I think you’ve already hung yourself.” –page 35
ReplyDeleteGarvey said this to Cole. This stood out to me because it’s a great saying, and I like how it came into the story.
What makes it great? Can you explain your thinking a bit more?
DeleteIn chapter 4 Cole's dad William Matthews said "This is all going to end" because Cole beat up Peter really bad that Peter had to go to the hospital the only reason why Coles dad said that is cause he wants him to be good. Page 40
ReplyDeletehe wants to be a good dad. but he is not he drinks and abuse Cole and the mother on the other hand jest lets it happen. what kind of parents are they?
DeleteI think they are parents who have given up on Cole and, have just been playing an act to look good in front of other people. Good post Jazmine.
DeleteI think you've already Hung yourself page35
ReplyDeleteI think the person that was saying that meant was what you are doing is wrong and you need to learn you're lesion.
DeleteChapter 4 pg.40
ReplyDelete“Cole studied Peter. Peter hadn’t sounded like this before. Cole wiped sweaty hands on his pants. It wasn’t like he had meant to hurt anyone. Besides, this wouldn’t have happened if Peter had kept his mouth shut.”
Maybe Peter had been mouthing Cole off. He sounded different now because Peter might have brain damage after Cole smashing his head into the sidewalk.
“Tonight the group wanted to believe he was sorry-he could see it in their eyes.”
ReplyDelete-Cole after trying to con the group into believing he was sorry. Pg.40
Cole wanted to make everyone believe he was sorry, so he could get a reduced sentence. I think Cole was conniving, selfish and he didn't have much morality. He didn't care what he did to Peter; he actually seemed to believe it was Peter’s fault for his actions.
"life is a circle"
ReplyDeletei think its like life keeps going around and around
I like how you said this..
Deletehaha yah Jessie....... :)
Delete"Life is a circle" pg 34
ReplyDeleteIt really stood out to me because life is really a circle.
Garvey told this to Cole to tell him that his life isn't over, and that its going in a circle.
what do you mean by "life is really a circle"?
Deleteits like a dream i can't wake up from.
ReplyDeleteyour dad hits you and your mom ignores it. i dont think that is a dream its more like a nightmare
Chapter 4
ReplyDelete“Justice often fails because it seeks to punish, not to heal”
I think that that is true because punishment doesn’t do anything to help anyone.
"I'm Peter Driscal, and I'm here cause I got beat up."His speech was low and halting".
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like peter is very timid and scared. And it reads further in the book that peter sounded different so maybe he has permanent damage or something like that.
chapter 4 page 34
ReplyDelete"life is a circle"
I wonder what he means by life is a circle
When Cole is swimming in the ocean it seems sad that he has to swim from his problems only to get swept back to it
