“Edwin and I are probably the two biggest fools alive” This quote stood out to me because I’m just wondering what Edwin and gravy did when they were younger.
“After I was mauled, when I thought I was going to die, I felt like just a plant or something, like I wasn’t important. I didn’t know why I even existed. That scared me.” -Cole replying to Garvey and Edwin, revealing how frightened he actually was. Pg. 132 Garvey and Edwin asked Cole if he’s changed and what his near-death experience felt like. This point in the story seems to be trying to coax us and Cole himself to accept what his choices are. I think the author is trying to make us root for him, and it certainly is working for me. I want to see Cole confront his other mistakes and those he’s wronged, like Peter. This novel is teaching us to accept our faults, control our anger and be optimistic. Cole doesn’t seem to realize that plants play a large part in the world. He doesn’t respect them. I suppose he might realize this.
chapter 15 page 130 '' this time there would be no free rides'' this stood out to me because Cole always got a second chance and now there making it up to him?
Pg. 129 “That should be the last time this Circle needs to sit here and listen to lies.” Peter’s lawyer said this during a Circle meeting. I agree with her and that Cole ruined his chance at trying to heal, no matter his mental state. If I were Peter’s lawyer I would have had enough with listening to Cole, and would try my hardest to send him to a court and jail.
its time for Cole to face real consequences.'' she handed the feather back to the keeper. she jest wants Cole to go to jail. I don't blame her but Cole has changed a lot so she should give him a 2 chance. page 127 chapter 15

DeleteI think the follow-up would work better with the "Or maybe we remember our own pasts too well," quote. Otherwise, I liked it.
